I have tried Zoosk.
I set up my account about two weeks ago. I filled out a partial profile and added a picture. The next day I went back to fill more in and search the site and found that my profile had been blocked by a “Zoosk Administrator.”
I have e-mailed them four times about this problem with no response. I find it hard to believe a head shot and my non-smoking preference offended anyone into getting me banned.

Zoosk is terrible. It is not free. People can send you emails, but you cannot return them without becoming a member for at least $40 ($120 for a year)They also will auto-renew your membership automatically.
And a quick google search reveals they often overcharge or fail to cancel subscriptions. . .

I agree with Bob I am very frustrated becuase Zoosk is not free. Like he says you have to become a member.
October 27th, 2010 at 5:58 pm
NO THIS IS NOT FREE BECAUSE EVERY TIME SOMEONE
WINK AT YOU YOU HAVE TO PAID A FEE TO BECOME A MEMBER THIS IS NOT WHAT I ASK FOR I DO NOT HAVE
THE MONEY TO PAID A FEE

Janice, Blue eyes and Bob are right, It’s not free, it is very much a scam, leads you to believe that you can reply to an email when you get one, but as soon as you click onto it, to reply, it says you must subscribe first, and the cheapest is $29.95 a month with an activation fee of $24.95. So it’s at least $54 to start. Rip off! And what do the people think when you cant reply?
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:20 pm
Agreed with all the other reviewers – Zoosk is not free and the online ads are deceptive. The only way to actually use the site is to pay and initiate a $29.95 recurring monthly charge to you CC or Paypal.
They do not respond to their “contact me” link.
Check out Ok cupid, as it seems to be the only “free”dating site that allows one to browse and interact without becoming a subscriber – you are subject to banner ads, but I have actually contacted and met real people thru okcupid.

Zoosk is a rip off. Not only do you have to pay for a monthly fee but also an initial sign up fee! You think you are going to be charge $29 for one month but then there is a $24 activation fee! WTF! Stay away.
March 20th, 2011 at 10:01 am
ZOOSK, NOW wants 39.95 anda 25 dollar activation fee…thats 65 bucks to start up on their CHEAPEST plan. I have also tried this in the past when a so called ‘real person’ wanted to contact me. Then when I joined, that person disappeared off of Zoosk.I think its a helluva scam!
July 2nd, 2011 at 2:09 pm
Like most of the comments above, zoosk online ads are deceptive, nothing free, even if someone sends you a message, you are not able to view it unless you buy “coins” or subscribe. I probably will check what Sylvester suggested and go Ok cupid !

I feel Zoosk is one big rip off.Paid money to join. None of the people I’ve oked every got in touch with me. When i check my profile every thing is changed.have changed it back to only have it changed again.
July 19th, 2011 at 11:12 am
I tried to find the per son that “winked” at me on Zoosk. I tried for a very long time. NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. Was this a real person. Stay away
July 22nd, 2011 at 5:53 pm
i also have been having problems with them.
i even have tried to call them. told to leave a message and email address.. then they will get back with you in a few days
they want a street address. no po boxes. even tried pay pal! they also want street address and axcess to bank accounts or credit card. even though i have 100 on the pay pal account.
July 28th, 2011 at 9:15 am
Get used to it. In todays age, it’s all about money and how these con-artists can get into your wallet/purse. Hidden fees, surcharges, recurring charges, activation, cancellation etc… Sounds like we’re dealing with a bank or airlines here, lol. They can keep it!
July 30th, 2011 at 2:23 pm
At first zoosk looks like a legit website, so I decided to go ahead and subscribe to the $29.99 ripoff. I entered my card info and right when I was about to pay the website was charging over fifty bucks i was like wtf… i said hell nah these girls might be cute but fuck spending 50 bucks a month that it automatically renews…
July 31st, 2011 at 9:47 am
It is a complete waste of time and money. For the fees they charge I would think there would be a substantially higher quality of people, instead quite the opposite, it seems that it’s the roach motel….where the people who can’t get matched on other sites end up.
I attempted to contact and inquire as to their “bait and switch” phrase “free sign up,” free to sign up, an arm and a leg to actually use it.
Plenty of Fish is much better and it really is free…..
July 31st, 2011 at 9:12 pm
THE THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS NO WAY TO GET AN ADDRESS EVERY THING U CLICK ON IT GOES BAC TO THE 888 #. ONE TIME AN ADDRESS FLASHED UP AND AFTER THAT I COULD NOT GET ANOTHER SIGHTING NO MATTER WHAT I DID OR CLICKED. ANOTHER THING, I DID NOTICE, NOTHING IS FREE, EXCEPT LOADING UR INFO.. NO FREE RESPONSES TO ANYONE WHO LEAVES A MESSAGE, EVEN WHEN THEY R PAYING???????? I HAVE FILLED OUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT MY CREDIT CARD AND AFTER READING ALL THE NGEATIVITY, I AM AFRAID TO TRUST THEM WITH IT OR MY ADDRES OR ANYTHING.

I despise websites that do not tell you upfront that you HAVE to subscribe to do anything other than browse. What a crock of crap. What a waste of time entering all that stuff and THEN they tell you as soon as you click on someone’s profile. Somebody mentioned ok cupid. I haven’t tried that one yet. But the other 2 free ones that I know of that actually have produced results as far as meeting people are mingle2.com which is dating/friendships for anyone. And lesbotronic.com which speaks for itself. It is a long process of entering some profile things. They have a human check it which can take up to a few days. They either accept you or not. Both sites do NOT require a picture. I think there are perks to take advantage of for a price but contacting people, emails, all that stuff is for free!!!!!!!!!!! On mingle2 I usually email someone for a while thru their own site and if they don’t seem like a serial killer I’ll give them my actual email.

OK well I dont even have a account with them I am married with two kids and i look at my bank statement and theres a 13.73 charge from this site and they wont seem to return my calls so I guess they are thieves all the way around if anyone has a phone number where i dont have to leave a mess please let me know
September 6th, 2011 at 8:38 pm
This article is total crap. you CANNOT reply to emails if you are a non paying “member”. Thats the sneaky part about zoosk, thay say they have over 40 million members. What they really should say is they have 40 million profiles in their dbase, I know someone that works there and they said there is only about 11,000 people that are really members, the other are non member profiles used to market the site. If you dont pay and put up a zoosk profile you will help zoosk but wont be ablt to actually communicate with anyone unitl you pay. My friend also said they have a support staff of 3 people for the entire customer service department. Thats why you have to leave a message and NEVER get a call back! They never call you, this is a running joke at the zoosk office where he works. WOW WHAT A SCAME!
September 6th, 2011 at 8:44 pm
I to fell for this scam. I cannot cancel the service! I called the support line and they dont answer! They say leave a message. I left 11 messages already without a call back to me! They are charging me $50 over and over. For 3 times now! I finally had to cancel my credit card today , in order to stop them from stealing from me again! BE WARE! Zoosk is a total scam. Im not sure how a company like this can stay in biz. Well look at quibids, thats a scam to and they are making a fortune. I guess there are so many trusting people out there that it could take years for them to go under. Its a shame. The cops should do something about this kind of thing.
September 6th, 2011 at 9:45 pm
From what I can gather here, Zoosk DOES charge a somewhat-hidden activation fee, on top of the boldly stated subscription price (Still overpriced in my view of a simple social networking site), BUT I will say that the people on Zoosk are real. I wouldn’t have thought so at first either, but after a day or two of looking, I found people on there that even though the picture is current, I have not spoken to these people in months/years. There are also people on there that I recognize from around the city. Not that I know them, but formal introduction is not a prerequisite of recognition.

I tried to use Zoosk mobile, which is supposed to be free, I never received the code (in an SMS) needed from Zoosk to sign in. When I e-mailed administration at Zoosk, they told me they could not help me because they were more proned to give attention to paying customer’s.
September 25th, 2011 at 10:11 am
Zoosk is a scam from the start. I have sent winks to 8 different women and each time I have sent a wink I get one back within seconds. Some of these women were not even on-line at the time.
October 5th, 2011 at 11:00 am
i agree with everyone here ,if it was 30 dollars to join i would have done it,, but i know canceling you membership is going to be a hassle
October 10th, 2011 at 3:18 pm
I agree its a scam!!!!! for sure….. I sent out 33 winks and got back in seconds 33 flirts back …bit of a coincidence wouldnt you think that they all decided to reply back in seconds to me??
December 4th, 2011 at 4:43 pm
I had an account for about 2 years on this zoosk. i found my girlfriend and we was happy completely forgot about zoosk didnt go on it but forgot to delete it. my girlfriend saw that it said my profile was updated when i hadnt even been on it which you could imagine caused a row. i havnt got any proof i havnt been on it ither but i know for a fact i didnt go on it since i met my gf. how do they explain this?
December 19th, 2011 at 8:06 am
fyi, when you become a member you are given the opportunity of being able to auto reply to winks, there are about 5 different phrases that you can choose from, you don’t have to be online for the auto reply to work. This explains why you are getting flirts when you wink someone and the member is offline. In saying that I have never had any replies from anyone I’ve ever messaged and that actually goes for approx 10 different dating sites over the last 10 yrs. I am not ugly either and during those 10 yrs I was employed in well paid jobs. Neither am I a bore! The entire industry is one big money rip off. To start one of these sites up you have to pay someone a certain amount of money for different packages. Cheap package can have say 5000 profiles, mid package 20000 and so on. All the profiles are fictional or inactive / closed.
December 27th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
This site is a giant ripoff. 80% of the “people” whose profiles you see in your search results can’t reply to messages because they are not paid members. Of course, there is nothing to indicate who is paid and who is not. so you will just end up wasting time sending messages to people who can’t reply unless they pay. Zoosk advertises this as a “free” site but the vast majority of the people on here can’t answer messages. Thus, this company engages in false advertising. They refuse to refund my money, so I am going to spread the word that Zoosk is a scam site.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:33 pm
the owner of this company should be spit on..
January 17th, 2012 at 5:01 pm
BEWARE IT IS A RIPOFF, THEY QUOTE ONE MONTH FOR £18 THEN CHARGE £40.73!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY REFUSE TO REFUND YOU SO YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY FOR A REFUND. THIS COMPANY IS IN THE USA AND KEEPS CHARGING YOUR CARD EVEN THOUGH YOU CANCELLED YOUR MEMBERSHIP
THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE WRITTEN YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TOTALLY BIG CON – AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE – TRY A FREESITE AND DONT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY
January 18th, 2012 at 7:48 am
They are all over my facebook – no matter how many times I say DO NOT ALLOW…
I am NOT a member – I have never even made a password for these clowns and they took $37+ from my bank account. My bank tells me they are in the system as Zoosk dating/escort service – so what does that tell you? I made a complaint to my bank & stopped them from ever being allowed in. The 888 number below is the one on the site but the other is one retrieved by my bank.
1-415-362-1000

Should have read this first fell for it paid the monies and nothing wink they wink back within mins i have complained replie: your not giving it enough time. The reason no one replies is that they are not full members so when they go to replie they are hit with subs window. The other con they say person is on line now have a chat you send message and nothing because they are not there or they are not full members just looking and when they see how much it costs they can’t reply. I want my money back as very dissatisfied which you can’t call it a service so what am i paying for answer ZERO.
February 3rd, 2012 at 6:30 am
110% scam I am afraid because you receive messages and when you pay hey presto they are not there. Do yourselves a favour. Steer clear of this scam
February 6th, 2012 at 8:26 pm
ok all of u all are dumb cuz zoosk got me laid in the first week and so far i have had 3 girls off there and 30 bucks a month is definitely worth it
February 11th, 2012 at 7:08 pm
hell I’ve met people on there without paying. the one’s who do pay are outlined in blue so you can tell. If they have an account you can read thier messages or even chat. The fee is high but if your not meeting people it’s because there is something unappealing about your profile.

Zoosk is a scam. All they want is your money.l joined but did not subscribe.l winked at several ladies and within seconds received back a flirt.lfound three of these ladies on Facebook and two on
Plenty of Fish dating site (a genuine site and that’s because it’s free)
l heard back from 4 of them who said they had never seen or heard of me and never sent a flirt. Two of them had not been to the site for several weeks.l expanded my search to Perth in West Australia.
l winked at 15 ladies between 8 and 8 15 pm.The time in Perth was 3am.l received 12 flirts back with in 30 minutes.l find it hard to believe that 12 ladies at 3am would send flirts to a guy 10,000 miles away in the Uk.As l said they just want your money.
They send the flirts to encourage you to subscribe. They are a bunch of thieves.
