Audio Recording on a Budget for Internet Marketers

I am finishing up a niche product and decided I want to offer the Ebook in audio as well. Makes sense to me. Why not turn writing into audio and vice-versa. More power to the product at the end of the day.

So here I am putting together a little overview on what I am using and what is working for me when trying to capture professional (or as close to possible without breaking the bank) audio.

If you work on your laptop like I do 99.9% of the time and are always on the move. Then this will suit you even nicer.

Step one so far of this “overview” is what to use to cure the nasty sound quality you get when trying to record straight from your laptop’s audio jacks.

The cure???? M-Audio Preamp

I picked this up earlier today and will be testing it in the next couple of days. I’ll update with my results soon.

The recipe I am going to test first is the M-Audio preamp along with a ghetto homemade pop filter and a mixture of microphones I have laying around (ranging from cheap ones to so-so quality). I’ll be trying out a bunch of audio editing software as well (from cheap to high-end) to let you know what works the best too.

Updates coming soon…

(why waste $$$ on higher priced items when you can find ways of doing it cheaper. And just as good.)

    Update:

Went to Michaels Craft Store and Target and picked up the materials. I will add pictures of the final products once I am done.

I finished one pop filter and dug up some of my recording gear from storage. So far so good. I tested out the preamp for just a few minutes. But it really made a HUGE difference in overall quality. Before even mixing the audio is 10 times crisper and cleaner.

Another thing I really dig about this preamp is the ease of portability and the option of phantom power. Which means I can use my favorite condenser mic. with no extra crap.

Pictures, audio samples and a step-by-step guide coming soon. Along with total cost of duplicating this yourself.
